Welcome to this unique house with its splendid garden in magical Sintra.
Located close to the town of Colares, about 10 minutes by car from the historic Sintra and the Atlantic Ocean, Quinta do Grifo, nestled on the western slopes of the Sintra forest, is centuries old, but its interior has been restored in a clear, modern style, using traditional Portuguese materials and keeping certain ancient stylistic elements.
The House:
White-washed under a roof of roman tiles, the quinta is built in the middle of a tiny village, over a succession of levels marked by stone walls which ensure complete privacy while dominating its environment. The House itself is built on several levels each communicating with a courtyard, a terrace or the garden. Its many windows offer fabulous views of the surrounding forests, vineyards and the Atlantic Ocean, and they flood the house with light.
On the upper floor, a high-ceilinged living room offers a comfortable space tailored to spend the evening with friends and family and a direct access to a courtyard and the garden. The house’s fully equipped kitchen has a vast adjoining dining space, and a shaded outdoor dining area.
The Quinta has four bedrooms all kept in the same modern style, three of them with a king or queen size bed and in-built wardrobes. The largest of them has funny bunkbed bed for one additional younger guest. A fourth bedroom has two individual beds and direct access to a patio. The master bedroom has its own private bathroom. You can also find at the property a spa with jacuzzi, harman and shower (for an extra daily cost).
The Garden:
The garden stretches over a succession of terraces each with a distinctive vegetation, combining alleyways, courtyards, stairs, watertanks and a part of the celebrated Sintra forest. Lounge areas beckon you for a rest in the shade or a sunbath by the 6*11m pool. The garden includes rare trees and plants and is kept in a distinctively exuberant style, with minimal human intervention.
