Summary: The building (class suites) is in a very nice section of El Poblado, about a 10 min walk to Santa Fe Mall and only 2 block from a nice supermarket, called La Vaquita. The building is 17 stories high and this apartment is on the 7th floor. The problem is that your balcony faces the street, so you hear the traffic below all day and all night (maybe after 2 AM - gets quicker) long. I know that there is a lot of traffic in El Poblado, but I thought this was in a more residential area - thus quieter. No so. The penthouse pool is lovely with an INCREDIBLE view of Medellin and they keep it heated - which is fabulous! The only problem is they close it every Monday - all day - which makes NO sense and they have very little outdoor patio furniture there to make it comfortable. Don't understand why?? The building is very safe with a receptionist during the day and security guards 24/7. The apartment was a lot smaller than I imagined. Guess that was my fault for not checking out all the measurements. It can sleep 4 but the other 2 people will be sleeping on a pullout bed in the TV room - the sofa is very uncomfortable. The problem is that the apartment is showing its age (pillows, tiles on the floor, terrible worn pots and pans) and no one seems interested in fixing up or replacing anything worn. For example, the silverware - there are 2 forks? On the positive side, they provided a toaster/oven, coffee maker, and blender. All which were very convenient. The ironing board was broken and there is some issue with the hot water heater - you have to play with it before it "ignites" and heats up. We had hot water - but its not instantaneous - and being that we stayed there for a month - after while, having to let the water heat up became a real nuisance. The staff is very friendly (security guards) were much more helpful than receptionist. But I paid $120,000 COP to have a maid clean our apartment while we were traveling ($30) and she did a really minimal job. I ended up disinfecting and cleaning the furniture, bathrooms and floors myself. They really need to hire a better cleaning staff!!! Bottom line: Liked the pool and the penthouse view. Apartment was way below standard - they need to put some money for new cookware and repairs into it!! Location is ok - father north in El Poblado would have been more convenient. I would not go back there. Much better properties for the price.
